Speech and Language Therapy Services

Elena bonded with my daughter from the first session. My daughter has always struggled with SALT sessions in clinic with the NHS previously. Elena worked out very quickly how to make our sessions fun but also how to expand my daughter's engagement and learning opportunities. She helped to give me a structure with which to work on as I felt I didn't know how to help my daughter as the books I had read just didn't relate to her. Elena opened my eyes to how I could take my daughter's interests (stories and cooking) and how to use this to expand not only my daughter's vocabulary but also her understanding of the world around her. My daughter looked forward to her sessions with Elena which was such a relief as that hasn't always been the case in the past with therapists. My daughter is autistic with GDD so she can be a tricky child to get involved in activities as she definitely isn't a people pleaser! Elena got my daughter to warm to her almost within the first 15 minutes of meeting her. The support and guidance Elena gave me as a parent has been amazing. She really listened to my worries and struggles and offered practical achievable solutions.

Before meeting Elena my son was only saying a handful of single words and using more sounds and gestures such as pointing to communicate. Since working with Elena the improvements in speech have been incredible. We have had 5 therapy sessions and each week there is growth and development being made, In such a short space of time my son is now able to say 2 / 3 words together plus using 2 syllables with the words being said much clearer and precise, eliminating the need for pointing and sound making for communication. I can now get more of a 2 way conversation with him being able to speak more on what he wants or needs. The speech lessons are so much fun for my son making him engage and learn through play, not only that its extremely informative for me with new strategies in place each week . Elena has built a good relationship with my son so he trusts her and engages in her play activities . Not only has my son's speech improved but his overall confidence levels has increased which is amazing to see. Not only did she conduct speech therapy lessons, but she came to visit the home and nursery setting for an assessment with also writing an in-depth EHCP SALT report for my son this report has been invaluable, its a very strong piece of writing which captures every need required fully supported on evidence seen. I cannot thank Elena enough for all her support and teachings and extremely grateful to have found her. I can highly recommend Elena to anyone.
